When are classes available?

What days are classes on?

Classes typically run Monday through Thursdays in single week sessions - 4 classes per session. We do have three sessions of Saturday only classes beginning in June. See our Swim Lesson Schedule by clicking the link at the top of this page.

How do I know which level to register for?

The level descriptions and prerequisites listed above can help determine which level a student should be placed in, or if you are having difficulty, you may call our office to have a knowledgeable staff member assist you.

How do I register?

You may register in person at The Wave Office or over the phone by calling (760) 940-9283 (WAVE).

What skills are taught at each level?

Each level of the swimming program has a specific stage focus with specific objectives. Different levels are achieved by completing benchmark skills. At each level there is a benchmark safety skill and a benchmark swimming skill to work towards. More information about each level can be see in the Swim Lesson Parent Handbook here.

Can parents / guardians watch the lessons?

Yes! One spectator per student may watch from designated areas. If your child is distracted by your presence the instructor may ask you to move farther away. Please let the instructors teach without interruption during the time your child is here. Additional children that are not in lessons will need to be monitored closely by a parent / guardian and kept within arms reach at all times.

What qualifications do the instructors have?

All instructors are Wave Waterpark Swim Program certified and StarGuard Elite licensed Lifeguards (includes First Aid, CPR, AED, and oxygen use).

What happens if there is a Holiday during a scheduled swim lesson class?

Classes will continue to run on weeks and days with scheduled Holidays (ex. Memorial Day & 4th of July). Please plan accordingly!

What do I do when I have a swim lesson related concern?

If you or your child experiences a problem or has a concern, please let us know! Feel free to stop us as we are walking around or you can leave a note at the front office for the Swim Lesson Coordinator to contact you. We are here to help you in any way we can and to make sure you have a quality swim lesson experience.

What is the swim lesson cancellation / refund policy?

When the Wave cancels a program, participants or payees shall be eligible for a full refund without processing fee or penalty.  Programs do have class minimums to operate and may be cancelled and rescheduled due to severe weather or other unplanned reasons at the discretion of the Manager on Duty.  Classes will continue in the rain and other mild conditions.

Registrants may request a transfer prior to the scheduled program, if a transfer is made to a class/program with a difference in fees, then the payment is due immediately at the time of the transfer. When registrants request a transfer prior to the second scheduled class, a transfer credit will be granted minus the prorated fee of the attended class, if a transfer is made to a class/program with a difference in fees, then payment is due immediately at that time. Beginning on the second-class date, no transfers will be granted. All transfer credits must be used within 30 days or will expire.
